Baptism and Confirmation

A Christian has been defined as ‘someone who follows Jesus Christ along the Way’. This begins with baptism – although for each traveller the subsequent journey is likely to be very different. To arrange a baptism (or ‘christening’) for your child, or if you yourself would like to discuss the possibility of being baptised, please contact us.

Marriage

At a time when so much of the fabric of society is breaking down, the Church has the difficult task of witnessing to its teaching on marriage. We are very willing to offer support to those whose marriages are in trouble. We also accept that some have not chosen to have a marriage ceremony.

Before making any plans about a date and a reception, please do get in touch at an early stage, to see whether the marriage can take place at the church and on the date you have in mind.

Death

Death is part of the human condition. A Christian funeral provides a structure in which to deal with death, and to ‘send the departed on their journey’. If you have to arrange one, please do contact us at an early stage, to discuss the circumstances and to plan the service.

The Vicar likes to be told of those who are near to death, whether they are at home or in hospital, so that he can offer to help prepare them, and their family and friends.

Prayers and Blessings ... help in trouble

If you have a particular concern you would like included in the Church’s prayers, please don’t be afraid to ask – or feel free to leave a Prayer Request on any of the prayer boards in the churches. The Vicar is always glad to be asked to bless a home, or a farm, or any new business or venture.

An important part of a parish priest’s work is to visit the sick and care for those in trouble, or near to death, whether they are churchgoers or not. Such people ought not to be ignored and left alone.  So please do tell the Vicar if you, or anyone you know, would like a visit.

If you would like to be listened to, or have any question, please contact us.
