Children
are welcome at any of the 10.30 services - or at any service!
There is normally a Sunday School on the third Sunday of the month at Rosedale. There is
a Children's Mass at Rosedale on the first Friday of the
month at 9.30 am.
At Appleton and Rosedale
children
have played a part in the 10.30 Eucharist by ringing bells and serving at the
altar.
Children
over the age of seven (and others) who are regular worshippers may,
after some preparation, receive Holy Communion before Confirmation.
Rosedale
School
The Vicar usually visits the school each week to take an
assembly. A syllabus has been written by him that
is more rooted in the teaching of Church and Bible than we believe is
the case in many schools (an attempt has been made to put the clock back
by 50 years!).
Lastingham
& Cropton
At Cropton children have
continued read lessons at the Carol Service and at Harvest Thanksgiving.
At Lastingham, children have
helped with setting up the Crib and making the Easter Garden, with hymns
and a bible story.
No
Sunday School has been held at Lastingham over the past three years.,
and Appleton's is now in abeyance (some of its children having
'graduated' at the Confirmation in December 2007.
There is
now scope for anyone who feels able to develop this work,
perhaps with a new emphasis on music and drama.
